TiFOON kick-off meeting

The kick-off meeting for the three-year EMPIR project, Time and Frequency Over Optical Networks (TiFOON), was held at NPL from 24th – 25th June 2019.

The consortium consists of 15 partners from 9 European countries (including the UK), ranging from NMIs through academic institutions to network operators and equipment manufacturers. It brings together long-established players in the field, including all European NMIs with existing optical fibre links to each other, and a number of smaller NMIs and external partners contributing specific skills essential to the project.
Representatives from all but two partner organisations joined the kick-off meeting, and partners involved in specific activities got together in several break-out sessions to coordinate their work. A social dinner provided the opportunity for the team to “bond”. We now look forward to a fruitful collaboration in a good-natured atmosphere over the next three years.
