Micro Materials Ltd were founded in 1988 and with their NanoTest range are the leading European manufacturer of instrumentation for nanoindentation and related nanomechanical/nanotribological investigations. They have an innovative approach to research that has led to close collaborative links to organisations such as MIT, NPL and the University of Cambridge to further develop techniques such as high temperature nanoindentation and nano-impact. More recently they have been involved with NPL and BAM in standardisation of the nano-scratch technique and have developed the nanoindentation technique to operate in high vacuum, with a current maximum test temperature of around 950 degrees C.
